During November social media memes often include “30 days of gratitude”  “Things I am thankful for” sayings, or photos or prayers or something like that.  We associate the month of November with gratitude and thanksgiving. I am not bashing the “month of gratitude” movement. If it gets people to think about those things and people to whom they are thankful then it is a good thing.

However…can’t other months be about gratitude and thanksgiving also. Do we have to confine it to just one month.

“I give thanks to my God always for you because of the grace of God that has been given to you Christ Jesus,…”  (1 Corinthians 4:1)

 

Prayer of Thanksgiving Day

God of all things, today we bring our gratitude and praise for this time to gather with friends and family to celebrate and to give thanks for:

The people who love us.
The food that sustains us.
The home that provides warmth.
The community that supports us.
The faith that roots us.
The opportunities to serve others.
The worship that gathers us in love.

May moments of thanksgiving spill over each and every day in a generous spirit and  gratitude filled  acts of sharing.
