In the last two months the Pastors of our congregations have had to learn and adapt quickly to the changing world around us. They have had to learn technology, on line meetings, how to provide care for those who are ill and grieving. So many things have changed in how a pastor does ministry in a short period of time. Our pastors are tired and excited about the possibilities at same time.

At the Committee on Ministry meeting on Tuesday, Elder Jean Bowers (First Presbyterian of Washington) shared this prayer for our Pastors.

Let us remember to pray for pastors. 

Father, please encourage our pastors and elders by the power of your Spirit.  Let their souls be refreshed with the love of Christ.  Let them have faith for the future.  Help them keep pressing forward even when the way is littered with uncertainty and many things to do. 

Help them to be refreshed by the fact that your grace is sufficient for them.  In this era of the coronavirus, please grant our pastors strength beyond their understanding.  Protect them from sickness and disease.  Provide them your energy to keep serving faithfully.  Help them to discover periods of rest and recovery.  Guide them to still waters. 

In Christ’s name we pray.  Amen.
