General Assembly Events June 19 -27

Ever wish you could attend a General Assembly? Here is your opportunity. The 224th General Assembly will be online this year.  The Assembly had to cancel the in person gathering in Baltimore, MD and move to a condensed version with only the essential business of assembly being considered. Even with a shorter assembly there are still events all week.

June 19 Election of the Moderators

The Assembly begin on June 19 at 7 pm with the opening of assembly and election of the Moderators.

June 20 Poor People’s Campaign

The Poor People’s Campaign will have a digital and social media gathering. Stated Clerk, Rev. Dr.  J. Herbert Nelson II will be one of the speakers.

June 21 Virtual Sunday Worship

At each assembly a highlight was the opportunity for commissioners and visitors to attend worship services in congregations in the host presbytery.  This the Presbytery of Baltimore Congregations are offering online worship opportunities for commissioners and others.

June 23 – Hands and Feet: Youth Rising Event

Youth Rising Coalition will hold an online event to hear the voices and stories of Baltimore Area youth.

June 24 General Assembly Bible Study

The GA224 Bible Study will be led by James and Mary Taneti on Lamentations 5: 21 -22 on June 24 at 7 pm and again at 10 pm.

June 26 Opening Worship

The General Assembly Opening Worship will begin at 11 am.

June 26 and 27 General Assembly Business

The business of General Assembly will begin following worship on June 26 and continue through June 27

The Election of Stated Clerk will be June 27 at 11 am.

The Assembly Ends with Music and Mediation on Saturday afternoon.

Online  Exhibit Hall

Another part of the Ga is the exhibit hall. This year there is an online exhibit hall.

Enjoy the online General Assembly and see how the church continues to find ways to do the ministry of Jesus Christ even in the middle of a pandemic.
