Let us pray for those who are those affected by Hurricane Laura
Hurricane Laura, a strong category 4 storm, made landfall in the early hours of August 27 on the coast of Louisiana, about 30 miles from the Texas border, bringing lashing rain, high storm surge and winds of over 130 miles per hour. The storm continued to bring rain and high winds through the Midwest and parts of the east coast.
Holy One, you are our comfort and strength in times of sudden disaster, crisis and chaos. Surround those who have been affected by the Hurricane and its aftermath. Surround them with grace, peace and strength as they face the days of recovery.
We ask for courage for those who have lost everything. Grant wisdom and diligence among agencies and individuals assessing damage and directing relief efforts. We ask for the nudge of Holy Spirit to those who can to provide in great generosity that which is needed to help bring a sense of normalcy and assistance to those who have are facing days, weeks and months of recovery.
Open our hearts, our eyes and our hands to the needs of your people and the movement of our Spirit. In Christ’s mighty name we pray. Amen.
