Prayers for those Affected by the Tornados

As we move toward celebrating the fourth Sunday in Advent let us remember that just because it is the Christmas season we are not without disaster and tragedies.

Prayer for those affected by last weekend Tornados.

At the time I am writing this the total number of deaths from the tornados is still being determined. Several states across mid America and south were devastated by 30+ tornados. Hardest hit is the state of Kentucky.  Let us pray for those who lost loved ones, who are recovering from injuries, lost everything that they had and are facing months and months of cleanup, recovery, and rebuilding.

Presbyterian Disaster Assistance is already on the ground helping the affected areas.  Your donations will be greatly appreciated.

The First Presbyterian Church of Mayfield, KY was destroyed.

Let us pray:

God of the ages, you have always been faithful to your people.
Come to those affected by the tornados now.
Give comfort and courage to those who are suffering.
Give strength and skill to those who are working to save and heal.
Give courage and resilience to those who work assist in cleanup,
recovery and rebuilding.
Give us your peace that passes understanding
in these moments of shock and sorrow,
and open our eyes, hearts, and hands
in the movement of your Spirit,
that we might be comforted and comfort others
in the name of Christ, our healer and our light. Amen
