Here I Raise My Ebenezer

Here I Raise My Ebenezer Prayer – by Rev. Katherine Scott-Kirschner

God, you’re our provider and our guide. You show us the way through life, even when it feels as though there’s no way forward. Just as the ancient Israelites built monuments and stone towers to remember your faithfulness, so we create our own Ebenezers as a reminder of the ways you meet us in our lives. Help us, O God, to recognize and see you in the face of strangers and loved ones alike. Empower us to be brave in our faith and in our walk with you, to serve the hurting, the hungry, the bruised, and the broken. Do all these things in and through us, O God, so that we may be better messages of your love and care to this world that desperately needs both. Show us the way, Holy Spirit. In Christ’s name, we pray, Amen.

This photo was taken by Rev. Katherine Scott-Kirschner in Ellenville, NY. Someone else built this Ebenezer and when Katherine found it, she took extra time to pause and reflect upon the goodness of God. May the same be true for you, with this photo and throughout your daily lives.
