Any Believer Can Lead Worship
We talk about the “priesthood of believers,” meaning that we are all equally called to serve God, just in different ways. While a congregation naturally relies on its pastor to lead worship, sometimes the unexpected happens, or it is difficult to find pulpit supply.
A committee of the General Assembly has prepared a list of twelve ideas for member-led worship, to make for three months of in-house pulpit supply. It was designed for the new Family Leave Policy for pastors, but one or more of these ideas could be used for any time you have need of a worship leader.
On those occasions when you are wondering who will lead worship next Sunday, look around the sanctuary. Look in the mirror! Perhaps someone will be led to say, “Here am I; send me!” (Isaiah 6:8).
