Prayers for those in the caught within the destruction of natural disasters
We continue to hear the news of natural disasters throughout the world. Recently the Coastal City of Derna, Libya was hit by storms and floods, at least 51,0 deaths have been recorded. A powerful earthquake struck Morocco and more than 2,600 people are known to have died from the 6.8 magnitude quake. The news also includes wildfire in Maui and hurricanes in the Atlantic. Coastal Massachusetts, Maine, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia are bracing for the hurricane/tropical storm of Lee this weekend.
Let us remember all those who are grieving, suffering and those trying to help save lives and bring support and supplies to the areas.
God of the ages, you have always been faithful to your people.
Come to us now, we pray!
Give comfort and courage to those who are suffering.
Give strength and skill to those who are working
to save and to heal.
Give us your peace that passes all understanding
in these moments of shock and sorrow,
and open our eyes, hearts, and hands
to the movements of your Spirit,
that we might be comforted and comfort others
in the name of Christ, our healer and our light. Amen
