Luke 10:7 – Prayer for those who Labor.

Luke 10: 7

Remain in the same house, eating and drinking whatever they provide, for the laborer deserves to be paid. Do not move about from house to house.

God of the harvest,

Throughout history “some” have taken
advantage of the “many” who labor
on the farms,
in the factories,
for the corporations,
for the service industry,
and more,
by not paying a
fair and living wage.

We pray for those who struggle
to make ends meet,
who live from paycheck to paycheck.
May  they have access to financial security,
that they are not taken advantage of,
and that they are  treated with respect and value.

God of all hearts,
change the hearts of those
who yield the economic power in our world.
Change their hearts so that they
deeply appreciate the value of people over
the value of profits.

God, we are not naïve.
We know that not all with
economic power will have
a change of heart.  We pray
that those we elect to govern
will use their power of governance
to make sure that the laws of the land
are fair and just for all who labor.

God we pray for many to have a change of heart.

God of the harvest,
Luke 10 speaks to us also.
We are the disciples sent out to serve
and to receive hospitality.
May we model to the world through
showing  respect and valuing to all
who provide hospitality
and who labor in the harvest.

God of all our hearts,
we all need a change of heart.

Amen.
