Boundary Training for Sessions and Volunteers

Thursday, October 17 | 7:30PM | Zoom Webinar

Dear Pastors and Clerks of Session,

On Thursday, October 17 at 7:30PM, Gregory Love, Co-Founder and Director of MinistrySafe will join the Presbytery via Zoom to share how Ministry Safe is prepared to help your church meet the new constitutional requirements for boundary training. The Zoom link can be found below.

MinistrySafe was created by Love & Norris, legal professionals and sexual abuse experts, to help ministries meet legal standards of care and reduce the risk of sexual abuse by creating preventative measures tailored to fit the needs of churches and ministry programs.

Since MinistrySafe’s inception, more than 20,000 organizations have trained over 3 million staff members and volunteers, on six continents in various languages. On average, MinistrySafe trains 80,000 people each month—live and online.

Why is this necessary?

In 2022 the General Assembly voted to expand the requirements for boundary training. While once only ministers of Word and Sacrament were obligated to take such training every thirty-six months, that obligation now extends to

  • ruling elders on session,
  • those under care of the Committee on Preparation for Ministry,
  • Christian Educators, and
  • Commissioned Ruling Elders.

And many of you have asked about providing this training to

  • anyone who works with youth and
  • all church volunteers

– as well as doing background checks on all of these persons.

The Presbytery’s discussions with Ministry Safe have reached a point where it is best to hear directly from Ministry Safe about all that it can provide.

Who should attend?

Anyone in church leadership who is responsible for implementing boundary training in your church, for any of the persons named above.

Join us on Thursday, October 17 at 7:30PM to hear directly from Gregory Love and ask the questions you need to have answered.

God is all in all,

Steve Shussett
