227th General Assembly (2026)

To be elected a commissioner to the General Assembly is an honor and a privilege, and available to PC(USA) ruling and teaching elders.
Information on applications and nominations is fo, rthcoming. Highlands Presbytery will elect two teaching elders, two ruling elders, and one Young Adult Advisory Delegate (an active member who shall be between the ages of 18 and 23 years on June 22, 2026).
As you discern whether God is calling you to this special ministry of the church, it is important that you are aware of requirements and expectations.
The 227th General Assembly (2026) docket will begin with committee meetings conducted online, followed by in-person plenary sessions held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. All Assembly expenses are covered.
June 22 – 24: Assembly committee meetings, conducted online using Zoom and other online resources. Zoom attendance is required.
June 25 & 26: Travel days for most commissioners and advisory delegates. June 27 is a full day of commissioner activities.
June 28 – July 2: Plenary business meetings, held in person at the Baird Center in downtown Milwaukee. Commissioners and advisory delegates must be present in person in the plenary hall to participate; there is no Zoom option.
If this attendance – online AND in-person – are not possible for you, then you cannot serve as a commissioner.
Additionally, Highlands Presbytery has asked its commissioners to:
- make recommendations on overtures from other presbyteries that need a concurrence (another presbytery’s agreement);
- provide a report to the Presbytery (which will likely by video) after the General Assembly;
- attend and speak at a Zoom “Town Hall” after the General Assembly;
- make recommendations on proposed amendments on which the Presbytery will have to vote.
