Prayer for Peace

With national and international tensions so high,
the world already felt stretched thin.
And then missiles began to fly.
May our prayers fly all the higher.

A reading from the prophet Isaiah (2:4)
God shall judge between the nations,
and shall decide disputes for many peoples;
and they shall beat their swords into plowshares,
and their spears into pruning hooks;
nation shall not lift up sword against nation,
neither shall they learn war anymore.
Lord Christ,
at times we are like strangers on this earth,
taken aback by all the violence, the harsh oppositions.
Transfigure the deserts of our doubts.
Guide the nations of the world into ways of justice and truth,
and establish among them that peace
which is the fruit of righteousness,
that they may become the kingdom
promised by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
