Prayer for the 6th Sunday of Easter – John 14: 15 -21

John 14:15-21

14:15 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.

14:16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, to be with you forever.

14:17 This is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him because he abides with you, and he will be in you.

14:18 “I will not leave you orphaned; I am coming to you.

14:19 In a little while the world will no longer see me, but you will see me; because I live, you also will live.

14:20 On that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you.

14:21 They who have my commandments and keep them are those who love me, and those who love me will be loved by my Father, and I will love them and reveal myself to them.”

Mighty God,
in whom we know the power of redemption,
you stand among us even in the shadows of these times.

As we move through the sorrows, struggles, and uncertainties of this life, we often feel bumped around   by chaos and fear. It is exhausting.

We long for moments of peace and calm. We desire spaces within our daily lives where, as families and as a faith community, we may rest in your presence and remember that we are held by your love.

Through Christ you have promised that we are not alone. You call us your disciples and send us your Spirit  to remain with us forever. Strengthen us to keep your commandments and to live in your love, even when it challenges the culture and world  around us. Grant us courage, resilience, compassion, and hope to follow faithfully where you lead.

Lift us up in these chaotic times and remind us that Christ lives in us and we in him. Through his resurrection we are redeemed, restored to fullness of life, and forever freed to be your people, bearing witness to your peace and truth in the world.

Amen.
