Just six weeks ago Hurricane Laura, a strong category 4 storm, made landfall in the early hours of August 27 on the coast of Louisiana leaving a path of destruction and flooding. This weekend Hurricane Delta, category 3 ( Friday at mid-morning) will strike the same area with strong winds, storm surge and flooding. Let us pray for those who are once again the path of a storm.

Holy One, you are our comfort and strength in times of sudden disaster, crisis and chaos. Surround those who have been affected by the Hurricane and its aftermath.  Surround them with grace, peace and strength as they face more days of recovery and reconstruction.  

We ask for courage for those who lost so much six weeks ago and are facing the storm winds and rain once again. Grant wisdom and diligence among agencies and individuals assessing damage and directing relief efforts. We ask for the nudge of Holy Spirit to those who can to provide in great generosity that which is needed to help bring a sense of normalcy and assistance to those who have are facing days, weeks and months of recovery.

Open our hearts, our eyes and our hands to the needs of your people and the movement of our Spirit. In Christ’s mighty name we pray. Amen.
