All over social media, television, newspapers and everywhere else the news is COVID-19 cases continue to move upward quickly.  The headlines tell us we are seeing the second or third wave.  The Midwest states are seeing a strain on their health care systems, much like New Jersey experienced in the spring and early summer.  The health care workers are doing heroic efforts to keep up and care for those who are sick and frightened. Let us once again pray for the health care workers throughout our country, especially in the states where the system is overloaded.

God of compassion,
who in Jesus Christ healed the sick,
Bless all who continue your work of healing.
Enhance their skills, and deepen their understanding,
that through their ministry
those who suffer may be restored to fullness of health.
Strengthen those who work among the sick:
give them courage and confidence in everything they do.
Encourage them when their efforts seem futile
or when death prevails.

We give thanks for those who are caring for those are ill.
Grant them strength, rest, compassion and wisdom.
