Nominations for the Commissioners to the 225th General Assembly

SUBMIT APPLICATION BY SEPTEMBER 7, 2021
- Dates of the Assembly: All Assembly meetings will be held between Friday, June 17, 2022, and Saturday, July 9, 2022. Commissioners and advisory delegates are asked to hold this full block of time until they have been notified of their Assembly committee assignment. Assembly committee assignment and specific dates for travel to Louisville will be distributed on or about Feb. 28, 2022.
- Committee Assignments : Because of the need to make assignments to committees in time for commissioners to make travel plans, the date for reporting the elected commissioners has been moved up. In order make that deadline the Presbytery of the Highlands needs to elect commissioners/YAAD to the General at the September 14, 2022 Presbytery meeting.
- Deadline for Application: If you are interested in being a commissioner/YAAD to the General Assembly in 2022 please use the application for below. All applications must be submitted by September 7. Please read the Expectations of 225th GA Commissioners before submitting your application.
- How many attend?: The Presbytery of the Highlands is eligible to send two clergy and two elders and one Young Adult Advisory Delegate. All Clergy and Elders are encouraged to apply even if they served as a commissioner from their legacy presbytery. If you apply you do need to commit to be available for the dates. Commissioners will know no later than February 28 their committee assignment and the dates they will need to travel to Louisville for Committee meetings.
- Election of Commissioners/YAAD: Applications will be reviewed by the Nominating Committee to determine that all information has been received. All names will be presented to the Presbytery to vote for two Clergy and two Ruling Elders. Those with most votes will be elected. Others will be listed as alternates.

Young Adult Advisory Delegate (YAAD)
Each presbytery may send a YAAD to the General Assembly. The Young Adult has an important role is providing a voice and advice on the direction and vision of the General Assembly. YAAD must be at least seventeen years of age by June 18, 2022, or no older than 23 years of age – no exceptions. However, as the Office of the General Assembly is unable to provide the level of supervision required for unaccompanied minors in order to be in compliance with the Child/Youth/Vulnerable Adult Protection Policy & Procedures, OGA recommends that YAADs be at least 18 by June 17, 2022.

Notes:
- If you are nominating someone other than yourself, please make sure your nominee is willing to serve and will be available to serve if elected.
- Expenses for commissioners are paid by General Assembly.
- This form will be submitted to the Presbytery Nominating Committee. All submissions will be reviewed by the committee and evaluated on the basis of involvement in the work of the church, number of times nominee has served as a commissioner, and balance in reference to church membership and representation criteria. The committee will then make recommendations to the presbytery for elections. All nominees will be on the ballot.
