In Oregon and Idaho and other western states wildfires are once again threatening homes, business, and the environment.  The fires are so massive that the smoke made our skies, on the east coast, hazy and the moon orange.  Each year the fire season gets worse.

Let us remember in prayer those affected by the devastating fires, those who have lost their homes, those who continue to work around the clock to bring the fires under control and for those who are providing aid to the homeless and the responders. Let our prayers also reflect the need to seriously address climate change and care for the environment.

Holy one, you are our comfort and strength in times of sudden disaster, fire and chaos. Surround the people of the Oregon and Idaho and  western states where fires have destroyed or threatened their homes and way of life with love and comfort.  Give strength to those who continue to fight the flames.  Sustain those who work to rescue, to provide comfort, to offer support and to provide care.  Fill all with the hope of your new creation; through Jesus Christ, our rock and redeemer.
