In 2020 the General Assembly met online like so many other events of our lives. All but a few items that were supposed to go before the assembly were postponed until 2022.

In that time so much has happened in the lives of our congregations and our communities. Even our presbytery community has transformed.  As we regain our footing from the last 20+ months of chaos, uncertainty and feeling lost we are claiming and adapting to  our new life of being the church in our communities  and in our presbytery.  A part of that claiming and giving voice to what we have learned and lived through is calling the whole denomination to conversation and transformation.  As a new presbytery we can call on our denomination to engage in the post pandemic world that is emerging.

As Presbyterians we do this by sending overtures to the General Assembly asking the whole denomination to engage and participate in the world.  The Overture process is not difficult, but it does have deadlines.  The first place to start is to review this document about submitting overtures. A question I have been asked is concerning overtures or concurrences of overtures of your previous presbytery. Those overtures are still valid. As a new presbytery we can still “concur” with overtures from 2020.

The church has gone through and learned a lot over these last 2 years. Let us keep that momentum going and one way is to engage with others in what can happen next.
