Praying for Justice
This week the news reminded us that two trials that started this last week. A trial in Georgia of three men accused of the 2020 killing of Ahmaud Arbery and a trial in Wisconsin of Kyle Rittenhouse accused of killing two people and injuring a third during a demonstration in August 2020.
As we await the outcomes of these trials let us pray for justice. What does the Holy One require of us? To do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with our God. Micah 6:8
Gracious God, by day and night we pour out our prayer to you. We are crying out for justice, yearning for what is right, long for your peace.
Mighty and merciful God, you call us to support the weak, to help those who suffer, and to honor all people. By the power of your Holy Spirit, make us loud advocates for your justice and strong instruments of your peace, so that all maybe reconciled in your beloved community.
Replenish our strength and stir up our hope as we look for signs of your coming reign. Fill us with the peace that passes all understanding- the deep peace of Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen.
