We are Your Beautiful Creation

Lord, you still have many things to say to us.  In your wisdom, you know that we cannot bear them now.  Yet bear them we must, for you have called us to work for your justice in our broken world.  We ask that you look upon our individual weaknesses with compassion.  Banish our fears, forgive our sins, weed out that which keeps us mired in dangerous apathy.

Great God of mercy, heal our hearts.

Lord, speak your words to us.  Help us to understand your words, that we may become the people and the community that you call us to be.  Guide us in the way you would have us go, seeking your truth, and your truth only.  Give us the clarity to sift wheat from chaff.  Grant us courage to speak and act for those who cannot defend themselves.

Great God of grace, strengthen our hearts.

Lord, help us to bear our burdens.  We are overwhelmed by the flood of disasters that compete for our compassion, our attention, and our action.  Inspire us to reach out to one another, in our towns, within our country, and across the globe.  Lead us towards a better way of being in and of the world, stewards of all that you have made.  We are all your beautiful creation.  We are all your beloved children.

Great God of faith, hope, and love, open our hearts.

We ask this and more with humility, gratitude, and trust in our Triune God, Creator, Redeemer, Sustainer.  Amen.
