Prayers for those affected by recent flooding

Let us pray for those who are those affected by the July Floods in Kentucky, Missouri and West Virginia

The devastating floods in Missouri, Eastern Kentucky and West Virginia have take the lives of at least 37 people.  Members of the PDA’s National Response Team are on their way to the regions.

Let us pray for those who have lost loved ones, homes, businesses, schools and churches.

Holy One, you are our comfort and strength in times of sudden disaster, crisis and chaos. Surround those who have been affected by the flooding and its aftermath.  Surround them with grace, peace and strength as they face more days of recovery and reconstruction.

We ask for courage for those who lost so much and are facing the overwhelming tasks of cleaning up and rebuilding.  Grant wisdom and diligence among agencies and individuals assessing damage and directing relief efforts. We ask for the nudge of Holy Spirit to those who can to provide in great generosity that which is needed to help bring a sense of normalcy and assistance to those who have are facing days, weeks and months of recovery.

Open our hearts, our eyes and our hands to the needs of your people and the movement of our Spirit. In Christ’s mighty name we pray. Amen.
