Young Adult Advisory Delegate for 225 General Assembly
Are you a young adult, or do you know a young adult who is interested in serving the Presbyterian Church USA, has something on the heart that he or she or you want to say to the larger church? Here’s your chance!
The General Assembly of our church meets every other year to establish mission priorities and make other big decisions about and for the Presbyterian Church USA. Because some of the people who have important things to say to the church are not elected as commissioners, the GA has welcomed different groups to be part of the bi-annual General Assembly meeting in an advisory capacity “so that the assembly may be assured of hearing and taking cognizance of their special viewpoints.” One of these groups is young adult advisory delegates. (YAADs). The role of the YAADs is to make the assembly aware of issues and ideas they might not otherwise come to know.
Our Presbytery of the Highlands Nominating Committee would like to nominate Young Adult Advisory Delegates to the 2022 General Assembly for election at our next meeting on November 9. If you, or you know someone in your congregation who is between the ages of 17 and 23 on the date the General Assembly convenes (June 18, 2022) and would like to participate, please let the Nominating Committee know. This can be a wonderful opportunity for young adults to be part of the larger church, to have a voice in the future life of our church, learn more about our mission and theology, and meet and work together with other young people who care about the church.
This General Assembly will meet partly in person and partly online. For more information about how this will work and more about the dates involved, these links may be helpful.
